Dan chucked. "I'm doing good... How'd you manage to pull off good behavior anyways?" he asked lightly with a grin and a wink. "It's good to see you're still in one piece, man." he added. _________________

Hex just smiled at Dan, appreciating his friend's concern. When Kain piped up, the smile turned a little wary.
"I know he was worried about something, but... it didn't happen, right? Whatever it was. Doesn't that mean... something still could?" Suddenly, he was glad of his time home, and the practice he'd gotten at fighting. Being careful was even more important, now, if something was still going on. |

"Yes, but with everyone on such high alert it's less likely there'll be any attacks. Too much risk when the entire city is paying attention," Ana commented, turning in to the kitchen to put a kettle on.
"Exactly," Kain added, "The General hasn't had any of his extra patrols stand down yet."
There was a slight pause, and a grin from Kain, "Personally I think he just missed having you around, Hex." _________________

Hex knew the general was smarter than that, but it was still a relief to hear that he was taking just as much precaution with everything.
His nose still pinked at Kain's assumption, but he shrugged haphazardly in reply. "I- I guess..." |

Kain grinned and Ana chuckled, returning to the living room to give Hex another hug.
"Either way, I'm glad you're back. It's been way too quiet here without you." _________________

He returned the gesture with one arm around Ana's shoulders. His lazy eyes had given him away, he supposed; it had been a long car ride, and he felt like he needed a couple days' sleep.
"Sorry to abandon the welcome, but I think I should find a place to lay down before I choose the floor." He smiled softly, now truly glad to be back at his second home. He continued as he went back to grab his bag in one hand. "The same place I was before?" |

"Of course, Hex," Ana said with a bright smile.
All three bid him goodnight as he left, and once the chimera was in his room, Ana went to the kitchen to put a few dishes in the sink.
"You sure it's okay he's back so soon, Ana?" Dan asked with a faint frown of worry.
"I don't think it should be a problem. We all trust the General's judgment, right?" Kain offered. Dan made a face, but said nothing.
Smiling, Ana looked to the window, out in to the darkness.
"No. It's good he's home. Our little family wasn't complete with him gone..." _________________
